What is Digital Signal Processing?

In the past, we have discussed different types of sound technologies such as: Digital vs Analog and PCM vs Dolby Digital. Today we will discuss what Digital Signal Processing is and how it can lead to a better TV viewing experience.

Digital signal processing (DSP) is the use of computer algorithms on digital signals to perform a wide variety of modifications to the signal.

One type of digital signal is Dolby Digital which uses DSP to process surround sound. Other DSP techniques include adding affects such as simulated stereo, simulated surround sound and 3D affects like concert halls.

Some new DSP techniques revolve around voice enhancement that we are looking to incorporate in future products, ushering the next generation of voice enhancement.
